FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Who can apply for funds? Is a donation to MUSE tax deductible? How are MUSE trustees chosen? What percentage of funds raised goes directly to programs for students? 100% of MUSE funds raised goes directly to programs to benefit students of MUSD Are there other sources of funding available? School districts in California have the majority of their funds in restricted funds called categorical funds. MUSE has no restrictions so funds can be used in any way deemed necessary. MUSE works very closely with SSC (school site council) at each school, in many cases, pooling resources for larger projects. Some of the grant recipients have used MUSE funds as seed money to apply for other grants and we recently worked with our local Rotary chapter to fund a large project to refurbish the running track used by the schools as well as the community. |
